Collaboration Ideas

LGBTQ+ Friendly Travel/LGBTQ+ Family Travel

Travelling as a lesbian couple or a rainbow family is not always as simple as it might seem. You often go to places, not really knowing if they will be welcoming towards the LGBTQ+ community or not. Travelling is supposed to be about having fun, relaxing and being inspired by new places, not feeling unsafe or being stared at or whispered about because you walk hand in hand with your same-sex partner, request a double bed at a hotel, or have a child with two mums.

To achieve inclusion, it is crucial for companies to show that they accept and embrace all kinds of customers - it's good for business and it's good for the LGBTQ+ community. With LGBTQ+ friendly symbolism and collaborations with LGBTQ+ travellers, travel companies can appeal to a significantly wider audience than they would without specifically targeting gender and sexual minority groups. Once you’ve had a particularly good and inclusive travel experience as an LGBTQ+ family, you will share that information with other LGBTQ+ families!

For statistics on LGBTQ+ travel, check out IGLTA's Second Global Report on LGBT Tourism.

Do you want to reach out to the LGBTQ+ community and come out as an openly LGBTQ+ friendly company?  Do you want to spread and emphasise the message of inclusion, acceptance and open-mindedness? Do you want to be a role model, a leader and a pioneer in travel? Do you want to include an LGBTQ+  point of view in your advertising? Then why not collaborate with a travel blog representing the LGBTQ+ community? We can share our authentic experiences with a worldwide audience of LGBTQ+ travellers and make your company, country or product attractive and accessible to a more diverse clientele.

What we can offer:

  • blog posts
  • YouTube vlogs on our channel Em & J on the Road
  • social media content
  • trainings on LGBTQ+ inclusion

As a Finnish-Hungarian lesbian couple and rainbow family, my partner and I as well as our daughter are more than happy to try out hotels, hostels, spas, restaurants, travel and food related tours, attractions and events in Finland, Hungary or anywhere else, and write an article about the experience. You name it, we try it! My goal is always to write the kind of informative articles that could help someone plan their actual itinerary in a specific location. We can also train your staff on the inclusion of LGBTQ+ customers as well as create social media content for your company from an LGBTQ+ point of view.

Other Ideas

I'm available for interviews, talks and other collaborations that match the content of my blog. Promoting an LGBTQ+ point of view and spreading acceptance within the field of travel is always in my personal interests, but other points of view are an option as well. Some possible topics (in addition to the trips themselves) could be life in a multicultural relationship, international exchange programs, culture shock, intercultural communication and experiences, and language learning.

Education

I have an MA degree in English with minors in Swedish, Education, Gender Studies and Intercultural Communication. I'm also a Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching grantee 2017-2018 on the inclusion of LGBTQ+ students in schools and a Seta certified school visitor on LGBTIQ visibility and acceptance.

Languages

My mother tongue is Finnish and I can also work in English. I also know Swedish, Spanish, French and some Hungarian.

My wife Julcsi's mother tongue is Hungarian and she can also work in English, Finnish, Italian and Romanian.

Statistics

My blog has readers from all over the world, the top countries being the USA, Finland, Russia, France, the UK, Poland, Germany, Canada, Sweden, Latvia and China. Therefore, I am able to target quite a diverse audience with my blog articles.

For now, my blog remains a place where I write about my own travel experiences, which is also why I'm currently not accepting any guest posts.
